Remsense is proud to announce that it has been granted CASA instrument number CASA.RPAS.0960, authorizing the company to conduct drone operations over and near people and in populous areas. This significant milestone underscores Remsense’s commitment to safety, innovation, and excellence in the field of drone technology.
Since the inception of drone operations, the rule has been to maintain a minimum clearance of 30 metres from people. This requirement, which is often visualized as a “dome,” is actually a 30-metre radius cylinder extending indefinitely above individuals, thereby prohibiting drone operations directly over people, regardless of altitude. This rule has applied to all operators, both hobbyist and professional.
In accordance with CASR 101.280, non-certified Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) are prohibited from operating over populous areas—defined as locations with sufficient population density that the risk to life, safety, or property in the event of an aircraft malfunction or fault is deemed unreasonable. This means that operations cannot be conducted over buildings, vehicles or other areas where risk to uninvolved individuals are present.
Remsense has successfully navigated these stringent regulations and operational challenges by implementing rigorous procedures, advanced training programs, and a state-of-the-art drone parachute system. These measures, combined with our commitment to safety and compliance, have led to the attainment of CASA certification, allowing us to safely and legally conduct operations in previously restricted areas.
With CASA.RPAS.0960 certification, Remsense can now offer a range of enhanced services, including:
Real Estate Orbits:
Conducting aerial inspections and capturing high-quality promotional footage over residential and commercial properties, providing a unique and compelling perspective.
Roof Inspections with Occupants:
Performing detailed roof inspections while occupants are present, ensuring minimal disruption.
Vehicle and Road Surveillance:
Operating drones over vehicles and roads with speeds up to 50 km/h, providing comprehensive monitoring and inspection capabilities. Ideal for traffic management, infrastructure inspections and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations.
SIM-Ops on Site:
Facilitating simultaneous operations (SIM-Ops) by conducting drone inspections alongside manned activities on-site. This reduces the need for plant isolation thereby minimizing downtime and improving operational efficiency.
Challenging Facade Inspections:
Accessing complex or hard-to-reach locations for façade inspections, improving building maintenance and safety assessments. Our advanced drone technology allows us to navigate tight spaces and capture detailed imagery, making it easier to assess the condition of building exteriors and identify areas that require attention.
