Last week RemSense attended the AusIMM Open Pit Operators Conference here in Perth, showcasing the role digital technology plays in the advancement of open pit mining, and addressing industry challenges.
There was a heavy emphasis on ESG (Environmental, Social Governance) that went deeper than purely achieving Net Zero. Focusing on a far more holistic approach- including people within organisations and the communities (local and globally); Reducing the impact/ consumption of natural resources, and how value no longer can be measured in NPV or RoI alone but must include ESG as a metric.
BHP’s Tim O’Connor delivered a thought-provoking presentation on uncertainty and the opportunity it brings, “ in order to realise the opportunity there needs to be a paradigm shift in the way the mining industry addresses challenges. Diversity of thought amongst teams, connection across business units and technologies such as digital twins have and will continue to play a vital role overcoming challenges the sector faces.”
“From a Remsense perspective. It as evident technology and people will play a critical role, to not only meet demand as the world embraces renewable energy. But as necessity as the industry transitions to an inclusive, diverse, and sustainable future” Sales Director Ben Martin said.
“The smaller conference format made interactions more personable, thank you to the team at AusIMM and Crown for facilitating such a great event.”
